Director Lee Min-soo, who directed the drama, explained the process of expanding the worldview of "Yuljae". In particular, "Someday, a Wise Resident" is a heartwarming story that has been loved by viewers for its "Wise Resident" series.
As this is the first spin-off of the "Life" series, writer Kim Sung-hee said, "Among the works I have participated in as a supporting writer, I am working on a spin-off of the TV series that I have spent the longest and most rewarding time on.
"I feel very fortunate and grateful to have had the opportunity to make this film," said director Lee Min-soo. "I did my best to meet your expectations. I hope you will enjoy watching it with an open mind."
Writer Kim Seong-hee, who teased the expanded worldview of the spin-off series "Hospital Playlist," said, "I want to continue the space of Yuljae and the theme of the story of 'Hospital Playlist'."
"We tried to maintain the original atmosphere and story, add familiarity, and add a new dimension of interest by turning the characters into residents, showing the young people growing up," he said, explaining the production process.
Regarding the reason for setting the setting in an obstetrics and gynecology department, he said, "It is the only department where births take place, and it is where babies are born, families are started, and where loved ones grow old and die.
"I chose a memory that is most similar to the story of a human's life history," he said, drawing attention to the subject.
In order to maximize the immersiveness of the work, "The protagonist burns his youth for the patients and wakes up for them. Thanks to the patients, he realizes things he didn't know and feels emotions he didn't know.
"It was important to cast a patient character because he is a character who grows through hardship. Even though the character only appears in one scene, we cast people who are really good at acting," said the cast.
He also explained why he placed emphasis on the acting of the actors who will lead the play as first-year residents, saying, "The actors who will be able to show the charm of their characters in the best way possible."
Director Lee Min-soo explained his criteria, saying, "It was important to find actors who could do that." He continued, "It's interesting to watch the actors grow along with the characters.
