"Former President Yoon Seok-yeol appeared in court for the first time today in a criminal trial and with the utmost brazenness denied the charges of treason," spokesman Han Min-soo said in a written statement on the same day.
"This is an insult to the spirit of the Constitution and to the sovereign, and a direct denial of the Constitutional Court's decision," the spokesman said. "He was removed from his position as president and kicked out of the government office.
"It was no big deal that he surprised the nation with a moral victory, claiming that he had 'come back victorious,' despite the fact that he was in such a difficult position."
The spokesman said, "(Today in court) the constitutional trial was decided with countless sophistry.
"We completely reject the ruling of the Supreme Court," he said, "and we have come to the conclusion that the apology and remorse of former President Yoon Seok-yeol were just futile hopes. Former President Yoon Seok-yeol has not only shown restraint, but has also trampled on the constitutional order and democracy with unconstitutional and illegal martial law."
"But then he took steps to avoid punishment and made a mockery of the people."
