The company reaffirmed its decision after one worker who had been missing since the accident was found dead on the same day.
In a statement, the company said it "prays for a speedy recovery for those rescued," and offered its "deepest apologies to the local residents for the anxiety and inconvenience caused by this accident."
The company emphasized that it "felt a deep sense of responsibility for this accident, and will take all possible measures to support the recovery." It also said it would work closely with relevant agencies to "promptly determine the cause and work toward early normalization."
The accident occurred on the 11th in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province, near Seoul. An underground tunnel and an upper road collapsed at the construction site of the Shin-Asan Line, burying two workers alive.
