Kookmin Bank suffers 2.1 billion won financial accident... ”Employee breach of trust”

KB Kookmin Bank has suffered a financial crisis worth 2.1 billion won (US$2.1 million). This is the second financial crisis at the bank this year.
On the 18th, Kookmin Bank announced on its website that a financial accident amounting to 2.189 billion won (approximately 219 million yen) had occurred due to a breach of trust by an internal employee.
The bank announced that the incident had occurred. The incident was discovered during an independent investigation by Kookmin Bank. The estimated amount of the loss has not yet been determined. The employees in question have been asked to adjust their credit ratings upwards at their own discretion in order to lend more.
It was reported that the case was not related to family members or other persons engaged in professional breach of trust. Kookmin Bank plans to take personnel measures against the employees involved and then file criminal charges.
A Kookmin Bank official said, "We understand that this case was made by arbitrarily adjusting the credit rating of the lender.
"We confirmed the relevant breach of trust through regular internal audits and have placed the relevant employees on standby. We plan to take additional personnel measures as well as file criminal charges."
Meanwhile, Kookmin Bank had a financial accident of 2.2214 billion won (about 222 million yen) in February. It was related to the Se Jeong rental fraud.
This was carried out through fraud by outsiders, including theft of names.
