Former Chairman of the Fatherland Reform Party, Cho Kuk: ”The Democratic Party's candidate is the Fatherland Reform Party's candidate, let's support and help him” (South Korea)
Former Fatherland Reform Party leader Cho Kuk continued his politics from prison, saying, “Once the Democratic Party candidate is decided, I will think of him as the Fatherland Reform Party candidate and support and help him.”
In a prison letter released by Hwang Hyeon-seon, secretary-general of the Fatherland Reform Party, on the same day, Cho wrote, "Comrade party members,
Cho said, "There is a difference between the two parties in terms of vision and policies," but added, "With less than 50 days left in the presidential election, this difference is something I want to ask of you."
"Everything has its own importance and order. I will carry the flag of the Fatherland Reform Party and lead the Democratic Party more than any other member of the party, and I will act more sincerely and enthusiastically," Cho said.
"Let us devote ourselves to a change of government. This is the path for the Republic of Korea and the Fatherland Reform Party," he wrote. "The Fatherland Reform Party did not put forward its own candidate through a resolution of the Party Affairs Committee or a general vote of party members, and instead created a civil war.
"We have decided to dedicate ourselves to ending the pandemic and bringing about an overwhelming change of government. The Party Affairs Committee and party members have made this wise decision by overwhelming majority opinion, taking into consideration the gravity of the current issues and the party's current capabilities," the report said.
He added, "Spring is clearly in the air. It is time to put an end to the winter of the Republic. Let us gather all our strength and hasten the spring of the Republic of Korea."
