Chongqing's first-quarter GDP up 4.3% year-on-year: Chinese report

According to the Chongqing Municipal Statistics Bureau, the city's gross domestic product (GDP) in the first quarter (January-March) was 757.479 billion former (approximately 14.9 trillion yen). Calculated at constant prices, it was 4.
By industry, the added value of the primary industry increased by 2.2% to 32.178 billion formers (approximately 634.9 billion yen), and the secondary industry increased by 3.7% to 249.663 billion formers (approximately 2.28 billion yen).
The added value of the city's industries of a certain size or larger in the first quarter increased by 3.6% year on year, reaching 475.638 billion yen, while the tertiary industry increased by 4.8% year on year to 475.638 billion yen.
Of these, by the three major sectors, manufacturing increased by 3.8%, production and supply of electricity, thermal energy, gas and water increased by 3.9%, and mining decreased by 3.1%.
Total retail sales of consumer goods increased 4.1% to 420,432 million former (approximately 8.3 trillion yen). Fixed asset investment increased 3.
This is a 5% increase and 3.4 percentage points higher than the full year 2024. Disposable income per capita in the city rose 5.4% to 11,860 formers (about ¥234,000) in the first quarter.
The employment situation is also stable, with the surveyed unemployment rate in urban Chongqing averaging 5.4 percent, the same level as the same period last year.
