The court said at the time, "The defendant's drunk driving and failure to report in three locations while operating a lodging business are not light crimes," and "his blood alcohol level was high, and he was in a difficult position during the period he operated the lodging business.
"However, the defendant appears to have acknowledged his mistake and is deeply remorseful," he said. "He has no history of receiving criminal punishment prior to this incident.
Moon was driving a car while drunk in front of a hotel in Itaewon, Yongsan-gu, Seoul on October 5 last year.
He was accused of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act when he changed lanes and collided with a taxi behind him. His blood alcohol content at the time of the accident was over the license revocation limit (0.08%).
In addition, the company was found guilty of operating illegal lodging facilities in an office and villa in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, and a detached house in Jeju City, and was fined 100 million yen over a five-year period.
He was also accused of making 36 million won (approximately 13.45 million yen) in profits.
