Police investigations confirmed that the day before the incident, A had put four weapons in a bag at home and taken them to school. A said, "My school life was so hard that I wanted to hurt someone, so I brought the weapons."
He reportedly stated, "I prepared everything and went there." Police also secured a note which read, "I'm going to commit a crime, so please think of me as not being here from the 28th."
According to the police, A-kun had difficulty adjusting to school life and was feeling psychological pressure due to financial and family circumstances.
Last year, Mr. A entered the school as a special education student and was placed in a special class, but this year he was transferred to a general class and his school life
The police plan to conduct a forensic examination of A's mobile phone, laptop, etc. to investigate the motive for the crime and whether there were any circumstances in which he was preparing to commit another crime.
On the 28th, when the incident occurred, A arrived at school early and used force while talking to a counseling teacher in a special class, then went out into the hallway and brandished the weapon, attacking seven people, including himself.
Immediately after the crime, Mr. A fled to a park near the school and attacked a passerby. He then jumped into a reservoir and was rescued.
As a result of A's crime, the school's principal, environmental practitioner, and chief clerk were stabbed with a weapon.
He was rushed to the hospital. Three other students, including a teacher and a passerby, were also injured and are receiving treatment at the hospital. Fortunately, none of them were found to be in any danger. A-kun was taken to the hospital for simple treatment and then released into the detention center.
The Chungbuk Provincial Office of Education said, "Because the incident occurred after classes had started, we understand that no students directly witnessed the incident. We have sent a message to parents informing them that the students are safe."
