Han Dong-hoon, former chairman of the ruling People Power Party, who is a candidate in the party's internal primary election to decide the party's official presidential candidate, announced on the 2nd that he will be the official candidate of the main opposition Democratic Party of Korea.
Regarding former Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung, he said, "If candidate Lee (former Democratic Party leader) becomes president, he will impose martial law and take control of the judiciary."
The Supreme Court of Korea found candidate Lee guilty of the Public Offices Election Law case the previous day (1st), overturning the acquittal of the second trial and rescheduling the hearing.
Candidate Han (former ruling party leader) responded to a question from reporters about the decision to remand the case to the Korean Supreme Court as above. Candidate Han told reporters this morning, "Yesterday's ruling has two effects.
"The first is that if I run for president, the chances of me beating candidate Lee have increased significantly," he said. "The second is that candidate Lee and the Democratic Party will do whatever it takes until the very end."
