Air Busan plane turns back after bird strike shortly after taking off from Gimhae Airport
Shortly after taking off from Gimhae International Airport in Busan, an Air Busan plane collided with a bird and made an emergency landing at the airport.
According to Air Busan on the 2nd, Air Busan flight BX761 departed from Gimhae Airport at around 7:19 pm the previous day and was heading to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.
The plane then collided with a bird. There were 176 passengers on board at the time. The plane circled the sky for about 50 minutes to burn off fuel, and landed at Gimhae Airport around 8 p.m. that day.
Air Busan organized a replacement flight and departed with passengers again at around 10 pm. The plane is currently undergoing safety inspections at Gimhae Airport.
Air Busan said, "Shortly after takeoff, the captain noticed a bird strike the fuselage near the engine, so the plane turned back and took emergency action.
The plane has landed," he said, explaining that they are still investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
