"We are preparing to condemn him, but I think he needs to self-reflect on whether running for office is an appropriate course of action."
Candidate Lee visited Inje County, Gangwon Province on the same day.
"Over the past three years, the people's livelihood, the economy, peace and security have all been destroyed, but I've asked myself whether (former Prime Minister Han) is worthy of the people's positive evaluation as the person in charge of national affairs," he told reporters.
Candidate Lee said, "I wonder if the person who was in charge of managing the (presidential) election to overcome the emergency situation of overcoming the civil war should suddenly play as an athlete.
"Why don't they take a moment to reflect on how their actions will be perceived by the public?" he added. "In the end, it will be the public that will make the decision."
Regarding the criticism from some in the Democratic Party that the Supreme Court is a "cartel of insurrection," Lee said, "The trial will proceed normally.
"It is not for me to say whether or not this will happen as I am a person facing trial," he said, but added, "The public has common sense, so the public will make the decision."
If elected president, he would halt ongoing criminal trials.
Regarding the promotion of the bill to revise the Criminal Procedure Law, he said, "That is something that should be done within the Diet. I intend to focus on civilian life and the field."
Meanwhile, candidate Lee is in a difficult position as he is the head of the joint election campaign committee, along with former president Lee In-ki.
Regarding media reports that a Saenuri Party lawmaker had caused controversy by likening the 2009 Yongsan disaster to a suicide bombing, he said, "It would be best if people were perfect, but everyone is lacking in a little bit.
Candidate Lee said, "I cannot say that there are no areas where the other members can be criticized politically. Even if there are areas where they are lacking, we must gather our strength for the immediate task of national unity.
I want you to understand that this is a critical time when we cannot afford to do anything."
