Seoul city buses to resume law-abiding protests from first bus on 7th - Korean media

The Seoul City Bus Union will resume its legal compliance struggle for safe operation from the first train on the morning of the 7th, when the long weekend ends. On the afternoon of the 6th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government released a press release regarding the legal compliance struggle for city buses, saying,
"We plan to implement special transportation measures to minimize the inconvenience of passengers," he said.
This refers to a method of inducing delays by not passing vehicles ahead of the train or by other methods. The union first carried out a legal struggle on the 30th of last month. A week later, the struggle began on the 7th.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government will extend the main subway rush hour by one hour from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. to ease congestion and reduce inconvenience for people using public transportation, just as it did during the recent anti-law protests.
In addition, 47 additional train trips will be operated on Lines 1 to 8 and the Uisin Solson Line during this time period.
However, the recent legal protests did not cause any major inconvenience to those using city buses.
Considering this, the free shuttle bus service in the autonomous region will not be operated. Seoul City will also be preventing "bus trains" by having the leading vehicle stay at the bus stop for a long time and intentionally running late.
To prevent this phenomenon (where several buses line up in a row, causing long traffic jams) from recurring, the government plans to deploy public officials at major bus lane stops to inspect the scene and take any necessary measures.
In addition, the city bus monitoring system will monitor deliberate slowdowns that disrupt vehicle flow and delays in departure and dispatch.
Yeo Jang-kwon, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's transportation department, said, "We will firmly take action against any acts suspected of being deliberate delays and will continue to improve public transportation services for our citizens."
"We will do our utmost to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to users in using the facility," he said, and requested the public's understanding and cooperation until the negotiations are completed.
The Seoul City Bus Transportation Business Union said, "We apologize for the inconvenience caused to citizens due to the union's labor dispute.
"We will respond thoroughly together with the city of Seoul, including putting into place an emergency operational system from the time the train arrives to work early on the 7th," the company said.
Since the breakdown of negotiations on the 29th of last month, official negotiations between labor and management have been suspended.
The union plans to discuss and finalize specific plans with the advised groups regarding the timing and methods of the strike at the National Automobile Workers' Union Regional Representatives Conference to be held on the 8th.
