The UK government has made it clear that it has no plans to introduce a cryptocurrency reserve. However, it is open to the issuance of blockchain-based tokenized government bonds.
According to Decrypto, on the 5th (local time), UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Emma Reynolds announced at the Financial Times Digital Asset Summit that she would “support a national-level cryptocurrency.”
"The United States' Bitcoin reserve is not suitable for the UK," Reynolds said. "It would be difficult to prepare a reserve, but we have no plans to build a blockchain reserve."
"We are considering issuing government bonds through distributed ledger technology," the company said.
