On the 7th, Kwon Seong-dong, floor leader of the People Power Party, announced that the Democratic Party of Korea will suspend ongoing criminal trials until the end of its term if presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung is elected.
Regarding the forced passage of the Criminal Procedure Law Amendment Bill, he criticized Lee Jae-myung, saying, "Lee Jae-myung is even worse than Chun Doo-hwan, whom the Democratic Party criticized so much."
During the People Power Party's general assembly held at the National Assembly that afternoon, Kwon met with reporters and said, "80 years have passed since the establishment of the Republic of Korea government.
"This is the first time we've created a bill that exonerates just one person," he said. "Lee Jae Myung is a worse man than Hitler. Lee Jae Myung is the dictator of Venezuela.
He is more evil than Hugo Chavez," said Kwon, the floor leader. "All citizens are equal before the law. So why is Lee Jae-myung the only one who is allowed to rule over 49.99 million people and receive special treatment?
"The people cannot accept that they are creating a bill that will support the Democratic Party of Korea, including Lee Jae-myung. Their reason and consciences have been paralyzed. How did they commit a crime and how can the Supreme Court find them guilty?
"Are you trying to abolish the provisions that punish crimes that have been committed in order to eliminate the crimes?" he said.
The subcommittee and general meeting addressed the amendment to the Criminal Procedure Act, which was led by the Democratic Party. The amendment, which was proposed by Kim Young Min, a member of the Democratic Party, said, "The defendant is a criminal offender who has a large number of cases."
The bill also includes a new provision that states, "When a president is elected, the courts must suspend trial proceedings from the date of his election until the end of his term."
He has opposed the bill, arguing that it is an attempt to block discussion of Article 84 of the Constitution, which provides for prosecutorial privilege.
The actions of Lee Jae-myung and his underlings, who do not hesitate to become dictators, must be criticized by all citizens. Otherwise, the Republic of Korea will fall into a dictatorship.
He also said, "We will use all our power to come up with ideas to inform the public of the seriousness and dictatorial nature of this bill."
