On the 8th, according to the police, the Songpa Police Station in Seoul referred a Japanese woman in her 50s, A, who kissed JIN by surprise at JIN's hugging event last June, to the prosecutor's office on the charge of indecent assault in a public place under the Sexual Violence Punishment Law.
Last June 13th, JIN held his first post-enlistment event, a fan event called “June 13th, 2024, Seokjin, Weather Clear” at the Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium in Songpa-gu, Seoul, where he hugged more than 1,000 fans in about three hours.
However, during the event, one of the fans kissed JIN's neck in a surprise move, and JIN, unable to avoid it, showed a puzzled look on his face. The next day, June 14th, an online petition was filed by a netizen asking that the fan who kissed JIN be punished, and a police investigation was subsequently launched.
The police confirmed the postscript on a Japanese blog and requested an international assistance investigation by Japan's Interpol to find the author of the postscript, which took seven months to identify the suspect, build a case against A, and require A to appear as a suspect.
The investigation dragged on and was even suspended in March, but A entered the country himself and turned himself in to the police, spurring the investigation. However, another woman, B, who is suspected of having kissed JIN by surprise as well as A, has not been located, and the investigation is still suspended.
