The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has filed a settlement with Ripple (XRP) in court, bringing an end to a legal dispute.
On the 8th (local time), the SEC reduced the $125 million fine it imposed on Ripple to $50 million.
The SEC plans to ask for the lifting of the injunction banning Ripple from being sold to the public.
The SEC sued Ripple in December 2020 for allegedly engaging in unregistered securities sales. The court ruled that the company could be held liable for retail investors on the crypto asset exchange in 2023.
The SEC subsequently appealed the court's decision, but dropped the case in March of this year.
