According to publicly available statistics, China's total merchandise trade imports and exports in the first four months of the year rose 2.4% year-on-year to 14.14 trillion yen.
Of this, exports increased 7.5% to 8.39 trillion formers (approximately 168.8 trillion yen), while imports decreased 4.2% to 5.75 trillion formers (approximately 115.7 trillion yen).
Among export and import goods, the increase in high-tech products is particularly notable. The value of exports and imports of high-tech products in the first four months of the year increased 7.4% to 1.52 trillion yen (approximately 30.6 trillion yen).
During the same period, the import and export volume of private foreign trade companies increased by 6.8% to 8.5 trillion former (approximately 162 trillion yen), accounting for 56.9% of China's total imports and exports.
By trade partner, exports and imports to neighboring countries rose 5.1% to 5.1 trillion former (approximately 102.6 trillion yen).
This is 1.6 percentage points higher than the previous quarter (January-March). Of these, ASEAN increased by 9.2% and the five Central Asian countries increased by 9.9%.
Meanwhile, the value of goods trade in April increased 5.6% year-on-year to 3.84 trillion yen (approximately 77.2 trillion yen).
Of this, exports increased 9.3% to 2.27 trillion formers (approximately 45.7 trillion yen), and imports increased 0.8% to 1.57 trillion formers (approximately 31.6 trillion yen). Growth in exports and imports in April
