Candidate Lee Jun-seok: ”I can't trust the ruling party to take on Lee Jae-myung” (South Korea)
"A force that cannot even uphold basic party democracy cannot be entrusted with the role of dealing with Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea's next presidential candidate."
On the 12th, the official start date of the June 3 presidential election, Lee Jun-seok, a candidate from the South Korean opposition party "Reform New Party," held a press conference in Seoul.
"They (the ruling People Power Party) will lose to candidate Lee Jae Myung again, just like they have done in the past, and will embrace the glory of victory," he said at the departure ceremony held at Cheonggye Square in Seoul.
"Now we have to stop (candidate Lee Jae Myung)," he said. Candidate Lee Jun-seok said about the upcoming presidential election, "In the past few years, the ruling party, the People Power Party,
"This is the kind of submission to those in power that he has demonstrated," he said. "The same can be said of candidate Lee Jae-myung, who is moving down the path of ruthless totalitarianism as if he already has power in his hands."
Candidate Lee Jun-seok said about candidate Lee Jae-myung, "The way he tries to take control of the legislative and judicial branches as if he already has power is exactly the same as what we have seen from dictators.
Regarding the ruling party, he said, "The team has drawn the strongest card they have in the presidential election and presented it to the public, but the ruling party has not endorsed them.
"They are caught in the contradiction of saying, 'That person does not represent us,' about someone selected through the process of an internal party primary to decide the candidate," he said.
