Video of ”Matsushima school violence” where student is told to ”count” and slapped, still remains on social media even after being deleted = Korea
In connection with the so-called "Songdo school violence" video incident in which a female middle school student slapped a classmate on the cheek, the first video that was circulated was deleted, but some of the footage is still being posted on social media.
According to police on the 13th, a video showing middle school student A repeatedly slapping classmate B on the cheek was posted on social media on the 2nd of this month.
The video was posted on and quickly went viral. The video was taken in front of an apartment building in Incheon, and shows Person A telling Person B to "count" before slapping him on the cheek.
B pleaded with A to stop the assault, but A did not stop. In particular, the students around the two of them did not stop the situation, but rather watched over the two of them.
He laughed and filmed the incident, shocking the students. After the SMS caused controversy, a police investigation began. After identifying the identity of the student who committed the crime, the police arrested him on suspicion of assault.
In addition, the police announced through the Korea Communications Review Committee that they would delete the video that was initially circulated and would also investigate those involved in the incident, including the person who filmed it and who spread it.
However, as his face was revealed in the already circulated video, his identity was quickly spread. After that, a message presumably written by the assailant A was posted on social media. A said,
"I was truly wrong and am slowly being punished," he said, apologizing to "those who were upset by my childish behavior and to the victims who are suffering."
Regarding the current situation, he said, "The average number of messages per minute is 36, and the number of DMs on messages, KakaoTalk, Telegram, and Instagram is so high.
"So many people have come and it's really scary," she said. However, she also said, "If my photos or personal information is leaked, I will sue them one by one. Please don't think that they won't find me.
"Please help me to quietly accept my punishment and live an upright life," he said, teasing the possibility of legal punishment. After receiving a report, the Korea Communications Review Commission deliberated and decided to ban platform operators from illegal and harmful information to minors.
However, if the same video is reposted, it will be considered new content and will have to go through a separate review process.
A source at the Korea Communications Review Board said, “In principle, reviews are conducted on a URL basis, even for the same video.”
"We are reviewing and responding to reported cases as quickly as possible," the police said. To prevent further distribution, the police are continuously monitoring the situation and requesting the deletion of the video, but the specifics of SNS are unclear.
The position is that there are limitations to complete deletion due to sexual orientation.
