Conservative stronghold shakes...TK Lee Jae-myung gets 30.9% of the votes, a ”dream vote share” = Korea

A public opinion poll has revealed that the approval rating of Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung has exceeded 30% in the TK (Daegu/North Gyeongsang Province) region, a traditional conservative stronghold in South Korea.
The Democratic Party believes that if Lee can get 30% of the votes in the conservative TK region, he will win a landslide victory in the presidential election, far exceeding the majority.
On May 14, the Mail Newspaper commissioned the polling agency Hangil Research to conduct a survey of 18-year-olds living in Daegu Metropolitan City and North Gyeongsang Province over two days, May 12-13.
The survey, which was conducted among 1,101 men and women, showed that Kim Moon-soo, the People's Power candidate, came in first with 53.1% of the votes. Lee's approval rating was 30.9%, followed by Lee Jun-soo with 20.2%.
The New Reform Party candidate received 7.0% of the votes. 2.0% of respondents said they supported other candidates, 4.7% said "none," and 2.4% said they "don't know."
As is typical of conservative strongholds, the majority of support for presidential candidate Kim is concentrated in favor of candidate Lee, but it is noteworthy that the approval rating for candidate Lee has reached the 30% range.
In the last 20th presidential election, candidate Lee only received 21.6% of the votes in Daegu and 23.8% of the votes in North Gyeongsang Province, but in this survey, he received 29.0% of the votes in Daegu and 32.6% of the votes in North Gyeongsang Province.

Some analysts say that support also played a role. In fact, in the TK region, Lee's approval rating was higher than that of the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party's approval rating in TK is 25.5%, while the People's Power Party's is 53.
The approval rating for the New Reform Party was 2% and the approval rating for the New Reform Party was 4.5%. Candidate Kim's approval rating was about 20 points lower than the approval rating of candidate Yoon Seo-gyul in the 20th presidential election.
People's Power candidate Yoon Seo-gyul achieved overwhelming results, receiving 75.1% of the votes in Daegu and 72.8% of the votes in North Gyeongsang Province, but in this opinion poll, candidate Kim received only 52.8% in Daegu and 53.3% in North Gyeongsang Province.
Candidate Lee Jun-seok received 9.1% of the support in Daegu and 5.1% in North Gyeongsang Province. On the other hand, the conservative base is judging the power of the people in this presidential election, as opposed to the previous election.

There are three ways to vote: abstain, vote for Lee Jun-seok, or vote for Lee Jae-myung. The third option is like cheating out of revenge, and will leave repercussions."
He also said, "The purpose of the punishment is to ensure that the People Power candidate suffers a major defeat and loses his influence, and to wipe out the remaining influence of Yoon Seo-gyeol in the conservative political arena after the election, and to eliminate the true conservatives.
