Another passenger tries to open the emergency door of a plane in flight... Korean Air flight in chaos - South Korea
A woman in her 30s was arrested by police after trying to force open an emergency door on a passenger plane traveling from New York to Incheon.
On the 16th, Incheon International Airport Police announced that they had issued an indictment without detention to a woman in her 30s, Ms. A, on suspicion of violating the Aviation Security Act.
At around 2:50 a.m. on that day, Mr. A forced open the emergency door on a Korean Air passenger plane that had departed from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York and was heading to Incheon International Airport.
Mr. A showed symptoms of anxiety about one hour and 40 minutes before landing and tried to open the emergency door, but was stopped by the flight crew and failed.
While Mr. A admitted to trying to open the emergency door, he did not give specific details about his motive.
Police voluntarily took Mr. A into custody when he arrived at Incheon International Airport, and after a simple drug test came back negative, he was sent home.
A police official said, "We plan to ask the National Forensic Service to conduct a detailed examination into whether Mr. A was taking drugs. We will further investigate the specific details of the incident."
