South Korea's ”telecommuting” time is ”last” among 40 countries - British economic magazine
South Korea was found to be the "last" country among 40 countries in the world in terms of the number of hours per week that people work from home. According to the British economic magazine "The Economist," a research team from Stanford University in the United States conducted a survey on April 18.
According to a survey of 16,000 university graduates from 20 countries, South Korea had the longest telecommuting time of 0.5 days per week.
The average time that respondents worldwide spent working from home was 1.3 days per week. Meanwhile, the country with the most time spent working from home was Canada (1.9 days), followed by the East Asian country (1.3 days).
The average working hours per day was 0.7 days in Japan and 0.6 days in China. Regarding this, a research team from Stanford University said, "The ratio of working from home appears differently depending on whether a society is individualistic or collectivistic."
He explained, "South Korea showed the strongest collectivist tendencies among the countries surveyed, but also had the lowest proportion of people working from home."
