<Interview> Actor Lee Jae Woo talks about his new Netflix TV series ”Dangeum” with co-star Jo Bo A, the behind-the-scenes story, and his views on marriage

South Korean actor Lee Jae Woo (27) expressed his gratitude to actress Jo Bo A, with whom he co-stars in the new Netflix TV series "Dangeum," and shared behind-the-scenes details about filming.
Actor Lee Jae Woo spoke with Herald POP during a round interview to celebrate the release of the new Netflix TV series "Dangeum" at a cafe in Seoul on the 19th.
Lee Jae Wook himself performed many difficult action scenes in the film, but he said, "I'd be lying if I said it wasn't difficult," and chose this film as the most difficult one.
I did action scenes using invisible magic, but this time I did a lot of realistic action scenes with swords touching each other, so I was very nervous. Someone was going to get hurt.
I was scared, and if I lost focus I could get hurt, so that was a difficult part. I thought it was important to film without anyone getting hurt."
Lee Jae Woo, who is receiving enthusiastic reactions after wearing Hanbok again following "Return of the Soul," said, "It's only on the internet stream, so I don't get to experience the reactions first-hand."
"I was looking at the comments, and I saw that someone had captured and posted a photo of themselves looking beautiful even though their facial expression was a little over the top. I thought it might suit me, but...
"I felt it was really good," he said with a smile. At the end of the film, there were many scenes in which Hong Ran had to take off her jacket, along with her secret. Lee Jae Woo said, "I felt embarrassed while filming.
"Most of the action scenes were shot while I was naked, so it was definitely a burden," he said. "I slimmed down this time. I wanted to get into shape because of the environment in which this character lives."
I focused on how tired my body was and how difficult it was to prepare. I slimmed down my body fat to 5-6%."
Meanwhile, Jo Bo A, his co-star, called the kind-hearted Lee Jae Wook an "angel."
Lee Jae Wook also said, "I was actually called that, but it was a little embarrassing. BoA unnie said, 'You're an angel,' and that's what I called her."
The reason why I was able to do that was because she had a great personality. Relationships between people inevitably involve give and take, but I couldn't do half of what she did for me.
When asked what kind of partner Jo Bo A was, Lee Jae Wook replied, "The word 'senpai' has the character 'senpai' (first) in it.
Not only does he manage the staff, but he also takes the initiative in helping the people around him. It was so good I can't put it into words. He not only contacted me about his scenes, but also about the days when I was shooting alone.
"They asked me things like, 'Are you feeling okay?' and 'How are you feeling?' I felt that they were people who could take good care of others," he said, impressed.
Last year, Jo Bo A got married and now that "Dangeum" has been released, she is married. Lee Jae Wook said, "I
I'm one of those people who really supports her, so if she continues to search for a direction that will make her happy, I'd like to continue to send her encouraging words."
Meanwhile, Lee Jae Wook also expressed his strong desire to get married. "I once appeared on a variety show and said that I have fantasies about marriage and family. I want to get married.
I have this unconditional opinion. I'll leave it at that for now. It's difficult to talk about, but as time goes on, I'll have to continue thinking about it to some extent. I'll give it another chance later.
I can tell you if I want to. I haven't even enlisted yet," he said with a smile. So what is the charm of this job? Lee Jae Wook said, "I became skeptical while doing this job.
I often ask myself what I can do in this world where there are so many wonderful and handsome people. The answer I always get is to work hard in the situation I'm in now.
"I was told to do it," he answered humbly. Born in 1998, Lee Jae Wook is currently awaiting enlistment. "Even if I do go to the military, if you look up information about me, I will be able to find my works and writings.
I hope it will be many. I intend to work hard right up until the day I enlist," he vowed. "I think I need to get the social experience that all young people have.
I hope I can become a more reliable version of myself," she said, raising expectations for even greater success in the future.
