Kim Moon-soo ”courting” Lee Jun-seok ”avoiding” him = Candidates from the ”conservative camp” in South Korea
With the June 3 presidential election approaching in South Korea, attention is focused on the "unification" of the ruling People Power Party's candidate Kim Moon-soo and the New Reform Party's candidate Lee Jun-seok.
However, unlike Kim, who is actively courting Lee, Lee has avoided this and the two sides have remained at a standstill. After registering as the ruling party's official candidate, Kim's approval rating has continued to rise.
Therefore, there is a lot of interest in "unification" because if the conservative camp were to "unify," they would have a fighting chance of winning.
Candidate Kim is currently receiving strong support from those in their 60s and 70s, while candidate Lee is receiving strong support from those in their 20s.
-Since they have secured support from a base mainly comprised of people in their 30s, it is expected that "unifying the two candidates will create a synergy effect."
On the 19th, Kim participated in a debate hosted by Seoul Mayor Oh Sehun and
Regarding the candidate, he said, "Our party has been wrong up until now," and "Even now, I don't think of other candidates or other parties. We have the same ideas and policies, but we have parted ways because of a small mistake made by our party."
Meanwhile, in response to a question from a reporter about the unification, candidate Lee, who was also present at the debate, said, "I will unify the conservative camp with candidate Kim's sincerity and run for the election."
"I don't doubt the good intentions of fighting, but it's not a way to win," he said, adding, "I'm not interested in the discussion of unification itself."
