MetaPlanet announced on the 19th (local time) through an official announcement that it had purchased 1,004 BTC for approximately 15.2 billion yen.
This is Planet's second-largest single purchase in history and follows an aggressive buying strategy that followed a 1,241 BTC purchase just one week prior on the 12th.
This makes Meta Planet the largest Bitcoin holder among Asian listed companies, surpassing the holdings of El Salvador in Latin America.
Meta Planet is the 10th largest publicly listed company in the world to hold Bitcoin, having added 2,800 Bitcoin this year alone.
In its report, the company said its BTC return in the first quarter was 95.6%, and so far in the second quarter it has been 47.8%.
The return is calculated based on the percentage change in bitcoin holdings per fully diluted share.
If Meta Planet were to purchase just 301 more Bitcoin, it would take Galaxy, the US-based cryptocurrency that currently holds 8,100 Bitcoins, to reach 1.2 billion Bitcoins.
This will overtake Galaxy Digital Holdings and rise to ninth place among listed companies worldwide in terms of Bitcoin holdings.
