South Korea company provides GPU cloud service to help localize AI technology
Ellis Group is an edtech company established to introduce AI (artificial intelligence) to the education sector, and has recently expanded its share of cloud services.
The company has introduced graphics processing units (GPUs) from Nvidia, a U.S. company, and is offering low-cost GPU cloud services.
This is the belief of Kim Jae Won, CEO of the company, that education using GPUs is essential to gain technical skills. Kim said, "There are very few similar services in Korea, so many of them are overseas.
"We use services from outside the country. However, AI technology is a national asset, so we need to domestically manufacture it," he said. The company plans to build its first PDMC (mobile modular data center) in 2025.
In addition, we have received the cloud service security certification "CSAP" established by the Ministry of Science, ICT and others for IaaS, a service that provides IT infrastructure on the cloud.
In May, the company was ranked 16th in the "350 Global Edtech Companies" list compiled by the U.S. business newspaper TIME and German research firm Statista.
Currently, they are building a PMDC that can operate 2,000 to 3,000 Nvidia GPUs, the B200.
"Many generative AIs such as 'PT' are services provided by overseas companies, but if public institutions are to use them safely, domestic production is essential."
