”Because the teacher is pretty”... High school student who produced and distributed sexually exploitative material about female teacher faces prison sentence in South Korea

Prosecutors have sought prison time for a teenage high school student who created sexually exploitative material of his teacher and spread it on social media. The student claimed he made the illegal material because he thought the teacher was pretty.
According to the Korean legal community on the 22nd, at the closing hearing held at the Incheon District Court on the 21st, the prosecution announced that it had filed a lawsuit against the accused under the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes.
The prosecution sought a prison sentence of 5 to 3 years for Mr. A (19), who was indicted on charges of compiling false videos of the same person. The prosecution did not reveal the specific reasons for its request in court.
According to the Juvenile Law, minors under the age of 19 who commit crimes can be sentenced to indefinite prison terms, with upper and lower limits set for the length of their sentences, divided into long and short terms.
In July last year, Mr. A was indicted on charges of using AI-based "DeepFei" technology to superimpose nude photos onto the faces of two female high school teachers and a senior student and instructor at a cram school, then distributing them on social media.
During the investigation, Mr. A stated that he "made the illegal compound because teachers are pretty." Meanwhile, the Incheon Teachers' Union, consisting of 5,410 teachers, held a meeting in October last year after the incident.
The school submitted a petition to the police requesting that the suspect be severely punished, urging them to actively investigate sexual crimes at the school. The education authorities held a committee to protect the rights of teachers, determined that there had been a serious violation of educational activities, and expelled Mr. A.
