20th anniversary of the movie ”The King and the Clown” to be screened in June... Director Lee Jun-ik and Lee Jun-gi talk event to be held
The movie "The King and the Clown" will be coming back to audiences in its 20th anniversary year. KT&G's Sangsangmadang Cinema is holding a special screening program "Sangsangmadang 20th Anniversary, 2019" to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Sangsangmadang.
The film chosen for screening is "The King and the Clown," which was released in Korea in 2005 and saw over 10 million viewers, and is scheduled to be screened three times over the month of June.
This special screening was planned to provide a venue for people to once again watch the "20-year-old film," which was released in the same year as Sangsangmadang. KT&G Sangsangmadang Cinema will be screening the film from May 12 to 18.
On the 29th, the official Instagram account held a poll asking viewers to vote on the "Korean film released in 2005 that they would like to see," and "The King and the Clown," which received the most recommendations, was ultimately chosen as the film to be screened.
On the 21st, the last day of the screening, a GV event will be held with the participation of director Lee Joon-ik of "The King and the Clown" and Lee Jun-gi, who plays the role of Gong-gil, and is attracting attention.
An official from KT&G Sangsangmadang Cinema said, "This program is an opportunity to look back on the time of Sangsangmadang with Korean films from 20 years ago, and to show the films that remain in the audience's memories.
"It will be a special experience to watch it again in the cinema," he said, adding, "In particular, director Lee Joon-ik and actor Lee Jun-gi are reuniting to reunite after 20 years since the film's release.
We expect to see a wide range of talks, including the production process of the film, its social impact today, and the meaning of the work when viewed in retrospect."
