Starbucks opens in fabric market, retro cafe with unique atmosphere (Korea)

On May 29, coffee chain Starbucks opened its second "special store," the Gwangjang Market store, inside Gwangjang Market in Seoul.
The Special Store offers a unique experience. The Gwangjang Market store reflects the unique atmosphere of the famous Gwangjang Market, a permanent fabric market, and aims to bring excitement to the market.
The first floor is a bar-style building that sells takeaway cold brew, the second floor is a regular store, and the third floor is a rooftop cafe.
The colors harmonize with the stores within the market, which is still made up of red brick buildings that were often used for residential buildings built between 1980 and 1990.
The second floor is decorated with interior design reminiscent of fabric. Threads are placed on the walls, and the ceiling and walls are decorated with a thin, transparent fabric called robo. On the third floor rooftop, there is a sign for Kwangjang Market and a wall with a picture of the market.
You can take photos with the "Starbucks" written in Hangul. When the retro yellow light bulbs are lit, the atmosphere becomes romantic.
Special store manager Ahn In-hyun said, "Customers are interested in the space itself and the products during the day.
"They also seem to enjoy alcohol and the atmosphere on the rooftop in the evenings."
