Candidate Lee Jae-myung: ”I can sneak around President Trump, but I'm not a softie either” (South Korea)

Democratic Party of Korea presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung said of U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff policy, "This will be the biggest issue we face for the time being."
Candidate Lee said this in an interview on the CBS YouTube show "Park Jae-hong's First Battle" on the afternoon of the 2nd, saying, "Of course, overcoming the civil war and overcoming the civilian issue is the most important issue.
"What is done by people is done by people, and people can solve everything," said Lee, adding, "In the end, it's about finding a compromise that benefits both sides."
He also pointed out that "diplomacy is not something where someone unilaterally gains and someone unilaterally loses," and that "that would be plunder, something that is done when offering tribute."
Candidate Lee said, "In diplomacy between independent countries, there are ways for both sides to benefit," and added, "We have many cards to play. We have things to exchange,
We need to do that well." In response to the moderator's comment that "President Trump is not easy," Lee expressed confidence by saying, "I'm not an easy person either."
In response to a question about whether President Trump would "denounce something face to face" during a diplomatic meeting, he said, "It's a form of politics that powerful countries take, but...
"I have to win this fight. I don't think it's unavoidable," he said, adding, "It's not about me personally, it's about all the people, so if necessary, I can sneak under their legs."
"I can do it. What's the point of that?" he added.
