Lotte Mart starts raising chickens to ensure safe food supply - South Korea

The large supermarket chains Lotte Mart and Lotte Super have teamed up with Harim, a manufacturer of processed meat products, to launch the "Fresh Whole Chicken" series, which uses chickens raised at designated farms.

This is a contract breeding business in which Tesuper is involved in the process before processing into chicken meat. In this series, a trial run will be conducted with local chickens in 2024, and from 2025, it will be expanded to the Cobb breed, which has the highest customer demand.
It was a big success. Through contracts with farmers, they were able to ship an average of 70,000 chickens once a month.
Among the affiliated farms of Halim, eight locations with excellent breeding environments and quality control were selected. The team also visited the feed manufacturing site and selected the feed to be used in this project.
Generally, the price of chicken meat fluctuates from time to time depending on wholesale trends, but in the case of Fresh Whole Chicken, the price is based only on the production costs of raising and processing.
The fresh whole chicken comes in a 950g package, and is sold in two varieties depending on the dish it is to be used in: a gutted product and a finely chopped product.
