Demand for rental home appliances, including boilers and air conditioners, is on the rise amid the economic downturn in Korea

Kyungdong Navien, a boiler manufacturer, has separated its flat-rate boiler rental service division and established Kyungdong C&S as a wholly owned subsidiary.
Kyungdong C&S is preparing new rental products such as dehumidifiers, ventilation purifiers, etc. in addition to Kyungdong Navien's main products such as boilers.
The company will provide services such as filter replacement, equipment cleaning, and inspection. Meanwhile, Kitorami Boiler will begin rental services for heating and cooling products, including boilers and window air conditioners, as early as June.
Prior to this, the company signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hyundai Rental Care in early 2025 to jointly develop rental-only products.
The company plans to provide rental services by utilizing specialized human resources and online malls. Other companies that already provide rental services include home appliance makers Coway, Kyowonwells, and
Chunghonice is also diversifying its rental items to include air purifiers, bidets, and massage chairs. An industry source said, "The rental market is growing amid the economic downturn. We used to sell expensive products, but now we can sell them for a small fee.
"The main need has been rental, but recently there has been a rise in attention to post-purchase management services, and demand for a wider variety of products is on the rise."
