Luxury car brand ”Genesis” to enter five major European auto markets in line with EV shift - Korean report
Hyundai's luxury car, Genesis, will begin sales in the luxury markets of France, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands.
In 2021, Genesis will enter a total of seven European countries, after first expanding into Germany, the UK and Switzerland.
With this latest market expansion, the company will now operate in the five major European automotive markets: Germany, the UK, France, Italy and Spain.
Sales will focus on the electric vehicles (EVs) GV60, GV70, and GV80, and deliveries are scheduled to be made to customers in early 2026.
In the four countries where Genesis will be expanding, sales of internal combustion engine vehicles will be completely banned from 2035. This will lead to a rapid increase in demand for eco-friendly cars in Europe.
In particular, EV penetration in the luxury car market is expected to approach half by 2027. The luxury car market size in France, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands in 2024 is expected to be 930,000 units,
Of these, 210,000 were EVs. France, in particular, has a high consumption of luxury cars, accounting for 27% of the market.
"Genesis's outstanding design and customer-centric philosophy will enable us to introduce the brand to even more customers," said Sys Europe president and CEO.
