Metaplanet's Bitcoin holdings exceed 10,000 BTC... overtaking Coinbase
Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has overtaken Coinbase to become the company with the seventh-largest Bitcoin holdings among publicly listed companies.
According to Cointelegraph on the 16th (local time), Metaplanet announced that it had invested 16.88 billion yen (approximately 117 million dollars) to purchase an additional 1,112 bitcoins.
This brings the company's total Bitcoin holdings to 10,000 BTC, more than Coinbase's 9,267 BTC.

The average purchase price for all of Taplanet's Bitcoin holdings will be approximately 13.9 million yen (approximately $96,400) per BTC.
On the same day, Metaplanet's board of directors issued a zero-interest bond worth $210 million.
The company recently made a major revision to its Bitcoin strategy, aiming to hold a total of 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027.
To date, they have purchased 10,000 BTC, and if they can purchase an additional 200,000 BTC over the next 18 months, they will be able to achieve this goal.
Following these successive announcements, Metaplanet's stock price rose sharply in one day.
The stock price (#3350T) rose more than 22%, hitting a peak of 1,860 yen during trading. It turns out that the stock price has risen by more than 417% so far this year.
Meanwhile, as of 4:40 p.m. on the 16th (Japan time), Bitcoin was down 1.62% from 24 hours ago and 1.78% from 7 days ago on the cryptocurrency market site CoinMarketCap.
It recorded a price of 107,143 dollars (approximately 15.44 million yen), up 1.41% from the previous price.
