米韓首脳会談は「取り止め」に…日韓首脳会談は「確定」=韓国報道
US-Korea summit ”cancelled”...Japan-Korea summit ”confirmed” = Korean reports
The summit between South Korean President Lee Jae-myung and U.S. President Donald Trump, which was scheduled to take place during the G7 summit in Canada, has been canceled.
It is expected that a meeting will take place with Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, who was the deputy head of the National Security Council of South Korea. On the 16th (local time), Wi Seong-rak, the head of the National Security Council of South Korea, held a press conference at the Canadian Press Center and announced,
"With President Lamp returning to the US today, it has become difficult to hold the Korea-US summit scheduled for the following day," he said.
The exact time for the meeting had yet to be finalized, but Israel and Iran have agreed to a military summit.
The reason is said to be that President Trump had to return to the US in a hurry due to the issue of the North Korean conflict.
"It's possible that," he said, drawing a line at the possibility of it being a "diplomatic insult." He went on to emphasize that "the U.S. side has contacted us asking for our understanding."
Meanwhile, regarding the Japan-South Korea summit, the South Korean presidential office explained that "it has been confirmed that it will be held the following afternoon."
