Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's imports and exports up 4.4% year-on-year in Jan-May: China report

According to statistics from the Guangdong Branch of the General Administration of Customs, the import and export volume of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in the first five months of this year increased 4.4% year-on-year to 3.61 trillion formers (about 73 trillion yen).

During the same period, general trade volume in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area increased by 2.5% to 2.11 trillion formers (about 42.7 trillion yen), accounting for 58.5% of the region's total imports and exports.
The trade volume using the tax-distribution method increased by 15.6% to 737.62 billion formers (approximately 14.9 trillion yen). In addition, the processing trade volume decreased by 0.3% to 724.37 billion formers (approximately 14.7 trillion yen).
Among trading companies, the amount of imports and exports by private companies increased by 4.8% to 2.32 trillion former (approximately 47 trillion yen), accounting for 64.3% of the ward's total amount of imports and exports.
By trade partner, ASEAN, Hong Kong, and the European Union (EU) are the three largest trading partners. During the same period, trade with ASEAN accounted for 6.4% of total trade, Hong Kong for 9%, and the EU for 20%.
In terms of export items, machinery and electrical products increased by 7% to 1.57 trillion former (approximately 31.8 trillion yen), accounting for 68.8% of the total exports in the ward during the same period.
