Kraken announced on the 25th (local time) that this approval will enable it to provide exchange services that comply with regulations across the European Economic Area (EEA).
The acquisition of the MiCA license comes after the acquisition of the MiFID license in February this year and the Electronic Monetary Institution (EMI) license in 2023.
"Trust is the most valuable currency in the cryptocurrency market," said Kraken co-CEO Arjun Sethi.
"This is something we can all earn," he said. "Over the past few years, our team has worked relentlessly to meet the highest level of regulatory requirements from the Central Bank of Ireland."
The EU will begin to fully implement the MiCA regulations from 2024, which has prompted many global cryptocurrency exchanges to enter the MiCA approval process in order to enter Europe.
In 2018, Coinbase, OKX, Crypto.com, Bybit, and others announced that they had obtained MiCA licenses.
Gemini is reportedly awaiting relevant approval in Malta.
