Professor Seo was appointed as the “Public Relations Ambassador for Ulleung County (Ulleung Island)” on the morning of the 27th through social media, saying, “I am on a boat heading to Ulleung Island. Today, I received a letter from the governor of Ulleung County.
Professor Seo served as the first principal of the Independence Hall of Korea Dokdo School in 2013 and has been featured in The New York Times and Wall Street Journal.
Professor Seo has been at the forefront of protecting Liancourt Rocks sovereignty, including by constantly placing advertisements for Liancourt Rocks in the world's leading media, such as Treaty Journal.
Professor Seo, who is also widely known as a "Korean PR expert," was a member of the Republic of Korea United Circle "Survival Competition" when he was a university student (1994).
Since its founding, the organization has been working to convey accurate information about Korea for 31 years. In particular, regarding Liancourt Rocks, the organization is involved with the Liancourt Rocks Love Movement Headquarters, the East Sea (Sea of Japan) Regional Maritime Police Agency, and the Gyeongsangbuk-do (North Gyeongsang Province) Regional Maritime Police Agency.
Professor Seo said, “In addition to the Dokdo Museum, there are many historical sites related to Dokdo on Ulleungdo Island.
"There are many historical sites in the area, but they are not well known outside the country and not many tourists visit," he said, expressing regret. He continued, "We oppose Japan's claim to the islands and want to let the world know about them.
"Equally important is for many Korean and foreign tourists to visit Dokdo and Ulleungdo," he said. "We will work with Ulleung County to introduce the attractions of Dokdo and Ulleung County through a variety of content."
