Japan and South Korea's leading materials science research institutes sign MOC - South Korean media

The Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS) and the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) have agreed to establish an international joint research center in the field of materials science and technology between Japan and Korea and to strengthen personnel exchanges.
NIMS is a research institute specializing in materials science established in 1956. It is a leader in the development of advanced materials that will be essential for the future of humankind.
As a world-class research institute, it conducts research and development activities in a wide range of fields, from basic scientific research to the development of scientific and technological developments that can be applied to industry.
The MOC aims to maximize the efficiency of research collaboration between the two institutions through personnel exchanges.
"This MOC will be a platform for Japan and Korea to develop the core of the advanced materials industry of the future based on the research results that both countries have accumulated in the field of materials science," said KIMS President Choi Cheol-jin.
"This is the first step in developing technology together," he said. "Through the successful establishment of the international joint research center and the exchange of human resources and information, we will take the lead in creating a global research ecosystem."
