"It is not easy to fight the political prosecution that has continued for the past 70 to 80 years," Rep. Park said. "The National Assembly of Korea has been trying to hold prosecutors, who have the absolute power to prosecute, accountable for their crimes.
"I pulled out the sword to impeach the prosecutors during the administration of the then Prime Minister Shinzo Abe," he said. "The crisis in this country began with the prosecutors, and I believe it will end with prosecutorial reform."
Rep. Park recently said that Rep. Park Eun Jung of the Fatherland Reform Party was the first senior prosecutor appointed by the Lee Jae-myung administration.
Regarding the issue, he also expressed his thoughts on the criticism that "the 'Big 3' is filled with 'pro-Yoon Seok-yeol' prosecutors." Rep. Park said, "President Lee Jae-myung is the one who has been oppressed the most.
"But I don't think he would have made any personnel decisions that would have hindered prosecutorial reform. Rather, I think he made those decisions after deep deliberation."
He continued, "Give it a little more time and see what kind of results it produces.
"Now that the framework for prosecutorial reform has been completed, I believe the systemic legislation will be completed by at least August, or at the latest by September," he predicted.
