The average number of days of summer vacation offered by companies in Korea this year was calculated to be 3.7 days. On the 13th, the Korea Employers Federation conducted a survey of 528 companies nationwide with 5 or more employees on the 2025 Summer Vacation Results.
According to the 'Employee Behavior and Economic Outlook Survey', 42.5% of companies that offer summer vacations stated that the number of vacation days was 'three days'.
'5 days or more' was 32.6%, followed by '2 days or less' (12.8%) and '4 days' (12.0%).
By company size, for companies with 300 or more employees, 64.7% said '5 days or more,' followed by '4 days' (19.6%) and '3 days' (15.7%).
For companies with fewer than 300 employees, the most common response was '3 days' (45.8%), followed by '5 days or more' (28.8%), '2 days or less' (14.4%), and '4 days' (11.1%).
By industry, 77.3% of manufacturing companies implemented a concentrated short-term (about one week) vacation system.
'Long-term implementation (1-2 months)' was chosen by 16.1%, while the '2-week rotation' method was used by 6.6%.
Meanwhile, among non-manufacturing companies, 'long-term implementation' was the most common at 73.6%, followed by 'short-term implementation' (17.2%) and 'two-week rotations' (9.2%).
A survey of companies that chose the 'short-term implementation' and 'two-week rotation' methods revealed that the vacation period was 'late July' (49.4%), 'early August' (42.2%), and 'mid-August'.
' (4.0%) was the most common response. 53.9% of companies that offer summer vacations said they have a vacation allowance plan. This was down 2.6 percentage points from last year, and companies with fewer than 300 employees (52.7%) were the most common.
The percentage of companies that plan to implement a system to encourage employees to take annual leave was 63.3%, up 4.1% from last year.
Meanwhile, when asked about the outlook for the economy in the second half of the year, 46.8% said it would be 'worse than the first half,' 37.5% said it would remain the same, and 15.6% said it would 'improve.'
Compared to last year's survey, the number of people who thought the situation would "get worse" rose by 1.8 percentage points, while the number of people who thought the situation would "get better" rose by 3.9 percentage points.
For companies with 300 or more employees, the most common answer was "no change" at 53.3%.
The most common response from companies with fewer than 300 employees was that things would 'get worse' (48.0%).
