China's first-half GDP up 5.3% year-on-year: Chinese report
According to the latest economic data recently released by the National Bureau of Statistics, China's gross domestic product (GDP) in the first half of the year was estimated at 66.536 trillion former (about 1370 trillion yen). Calculated at constant prices
This was a 5.3% increase compared to the same period last year. By industry, added value in the primary industry increased by 3.7%, the secondary industry by 5.3%, and the tertiary industry by 5.5%.
By quarter, GDP increased 5.4% in the first quarter (January-March) compared to the same period last year, and increased 5.2% in the second quarter (April-June) compared to the same period last year.
In the first half of this year, the growth of industrial production accelerated, and the added value of industrial enterprises with national scale or above (enterprises with annual main operating revenue of 20 million yen or more) increased by 1.2% year-on-year.
The increase was 6.4% compared to the previous quarter, remaining roughly the same level as in the first quarter. The added value of the service industry increased by 5.5%, up 0.2 percentage points from the first quarter.
In the first half of the year, retail sales of consumer goods increased by 5.0% year-on-year, and fixed asset investment continued to grow. Its contribution to economic growth was the largest.
Final consumption expenditure accounted for 52%, total capital formation for 16.8%, and net exports of goods and services for 31.2%.
