Park Gyuri of the Korean girl group KARA has been called as a witness in the fraud trial of her former boyfriend, PICA PROJECT CEO Song Ja-ho.
Recently, according to a Korean media outlet, Gyuri was arrested on suspicion of fraud on the 16th (today) at the Seoul Southern District Court.
Gyuri was called as a witness in the trial. The hearing was held in private. Mr. Song is the grandson of the founder of Dong Woo Construction and the third generation of a Korean conglomerate.
Born in 2000, he is 12 years younger than Gyuri, who was born in 1988, and the two became publicly romantic partners after Love Affair rumors surfaced in October 2019.
After that, Song was caught drunk driving in July 2021, causing controversy, and the two eventually broke up.
However, in 2023, Song was arrested on suspicion of violating the Special Economic Law on Cryptocurrency, and the scandal spread to Gyuri.
She was a witness in the case even after the breakup. Gyuri was questioned by the prosecution as a witness in relation to this case and released an official statement.
"I have never been involved in any illegal activities in the coin business, nor have I taken any unfair profits," she said, drawing a line under the matter.
At the time, Gyuri also expressed her dissatisfaction, saying, "When did we break up? I'm fed up with everything. I wonder when I'll be able to get away from it."
