According to a report from The Block, Metaplanet spent approximately $92.5 million to purchase an additional 780 Bitcoins on the same day.
With this purchase, Metaplanet's total holdings will reach 17,132 BTC, equivalent to approximately $2 billion at current market prices.
The purchase reflects Metaplanet's long-term optimism about Bitcoin. The company is investing an average of 1 BTC
Simon Gerovich, a former CEO of the company, disclosed that he had purchased Bitcoin at a price equivalent to $118,622 per Bitcoin.
Gerovich, CEO of MetaPlanet, said through X that "MetaPlanet's average Bitcoin purchase price is 101,030,000 yen.
According to Bitcointreasuris data, Metaplanet is the seventh largest listed company in the world in terms of the amount of Bitcoin it holds.
Metaplanet has been using Bitcoin as its core asset since April 2024, and last month announced it plans to hold a total of more than 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027.
The company has secured 1.1 billion Bitcoin and reaffirmed its goal of holding 1% of the total supply of Bitcoin.
The company recorded sales of 1.6 billion yen (approximately $7.6 million), up 42.4% from the same period last year.
