Online debate continues over IVE's Jang Won Young's uniform outfit

There has been ongoing debate among netizens online for several days regarding the kick-off outfit worn by IVE member Jang Won-young.

IVE participated in the '2025 Coupang Play Series' match between Team K League and Newcastle United held at the Suwon World Cup Stadium on the 30th of last month as kick-off performers and ceremony singers.

On that day, the members of IVE appeared wearing outfits that combined shiny blue tops with hot pants. Each member customized their tops with different designs to highlight their individuality.

Among these, Jang Won-young's outfit, which was customized into a tube top mini dress that hugged her body tightly, became a topic of discussion. Some netizens criticized the outfit, stating that it was “too revealing and seemed difficult to move in,” and argued that it was inappropriate for a kickoff ceremony.

As criticism toward her agency, Starship Entertainment, and the coordinator intensified, member Lay addressed the issue through a fan communication platform, revealing, “We requested that each of us be allowed to remodel our outfits as we desired,” in an effort to calm the situation. However, this shifted the criticism toward Jang Won-young. Online discussions heated up over the appropriateness of Jang Won-young's kick-off outfit, with netizens engaging in intense debates. The Chinese fanbase of “IVE” also issued a statement expressing concerns about the outfit's level of exposure.

As of the 1st, StarShip Entertainment has not issued a separate statement regarding this issue. Jang Won-young and the other members of IVE are currently in the United States fulfilling their performance schedule for 'KCON LA 2025'. They will release their new mini-album 'IVE SECRET' on the 25th and kick off their comeback activities.
