U.S.-South Korea summit to be held within the month - Agreement confirmed during foreign minister's first visit to the U.S.
South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun returned to the United States on the 3rd after completing his first visit since taking office. Cho said that he had confirmed with the US side that "a strong US-ROK joint response posture" and "extended deterrence" had been established.

Speaking to reporters at Incheon International Airport, Cho said he had met with Marcos Benjamin Lee Rubio during his visit to the United States.
He revealed that he had met with U.S. government officials, including Secretary of State Rubio.
The two countries reaffirmed their intention to cooperate in response to the progress of the development of the Sail. They also agreed to enhance the effectiveness of "extended deterrence," which protects allies with all military capabilities, including U.S. nuclear forces.
Regarding the "modernization of the alliance" that the United States has recently been promoting, he explained that it is a process in which South Korea will strengthen its national defense capabilities in response to changes in the current international situation.
