Actor Song Young-kyu was found unconscious in his car and later confirmed dead at the age of 55.

Police have launched an investigation after actor Song Young-kyu (55) was found dead in his car.

Yongin Dongbu Police Station in Gyeonggi Province responded to a call at around 9:15 AM on the 4th, reporting that Song Young-kyu had been found unconscious inside a parked car on the side of a road in Yongin. They responded to the scene. The call was made by a passerby reporting an unconscious person inside a car.

When police and ambulance crews arrived at the scene, Song Young-kyu was already in cardiac arrest and was later confirmed dead. No signs of intrusion or foul play were reportedly found at the scene.

A police official said, "We have not yet determined the cause of death, and we are currently conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause of death." "We will decide whether to conduct an autopsy after consulting with the family."

Song Young-kyu had recently been under police investigation for suspected drunk driving.

Late last month, Song Young-kyu was arrested for drunk driving while driving his car after drinking with acquaintances in Yongin. His blood alcohol level at the time exceeded the license revocation limit (0.08%), and police have referred the case to the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office.

Meanwhile, the deceased made his debut in a musical in 1994 and appeared in numerous dramas and films. His notable works include the films 'Extreme Job' (2019), 'Narcos Saints' (2022), and "Casino" (2022). He recently appeared in the ENA drama 'iShopping' and SBS's Try: We'll Become a Miracle, and has also been cast in the play 'Shakespeare in Love', currently running at the Seoul Arts Center.

If no further criminal allegations are discovered, police plan to close the case in accordance with the wishes of the deceased's family.
