China's services trade grew 8.0% year-on-year in first half: Chinese report

China's trade in services grew steadily in the first half of this year. According to data released by the Ministry of Commerce, the total trade in services in the first half of the year increased 8.0% year-on-year to 3,887.26 billion yen.
Of this, exports increased by 15.0% to 1,688.3 billion yen (approximately 34.6 trillion yen), and imports increased by 3.2% to 2,198.96 billion yen (approximately 45.1 trillion yen).
The trade deficit in services was 510.66 billion former (approximately 10.5 trillion yen), down 152.21 billion former (approximately 3.1 trillion yen) from the same period last year.
The characteristics of trade in services during the same period are as follows: Trade in knowledge-intensive services has been growing steadily. The value of exports and imports of knowledge-intensive services during the same period increased by 6.5%.
1,502,540 million former (approximately 30.8 trillion yen), up 0.0%. Of this, exports increased 7.8% to 865,040 million former (approximately 17.7 trillion yen), and imports increased 3.6% to 637,040 million former.
The surplus was 227.54 billion former (approximately 4.7 trillion yen), an increase of 40.92 billion former (approximately 840 billion yen) from the same period last year.
Within the knowledge-intensive services trade, the import and export scales of other commercial services and electronic, computer and information services are relatively large.
It increased by 1.1% to 639.1 billion former (approximately 13.1 trillion yen), and by 12.7% to 529.38 billion former (approximately 10.9 trillion yen).
Trade in travel services showed the highest growth rate. During the same period, travel services continued to grow rapidly.
