Democratic Party of Korea responds to disciplinary action against People Power Party's Jeong Han-gil by saying, ”We should break away from the forces of insurgency.” (South Korea)
On the 9th, the ruling Democratic Party of Korea said that the People's Power Party's initiation of disciplinary proceedings against YouTuber Jung Han-gil was merely a cover-up and that the party must declare a complete break with the rebel forces.
Moon Geum-ju, floor spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Korea, first said in a written briefing, "Chung's disgraceful behavior at the People Power Party convention is a fundamental violation of the order of democracy.
"This is an outrageous act that completely tramples on precedent. Jeong misused his press badge, occupied the press box, and made fun of and insulted every statement made by the pro-impeachment candidates, turning the scene into a scene of chaos," the group said.
"Such anti-democratic violence and incitement is a serious criminal act that threatens the foundation of Korean democracy and cannot be overlooked," said Moon, a spokesman for the National Assembly.
"Disciplining only him is a blindfold that ignores the essence of the matter," he added, "Unless we clearly declare a complete break with the forces of civil unrest and thoroughly eradicate those who sympathize with the civil unrest, there is no future for the People's Power.
Furthermore, Moon Jae-in, the spokesperson for the National Assembly, called on Kim Moon-soo, the People's Power Party's candidate for the party's leadership, to withdraw from the party after he mentioned the dissolution of the Democratic Party.
Moon, the spokesman for the National Assembly, said, "Candidate Kim's remarks about one-party dictatorship, religious oppression, and far-left terrorism, which do not exist, are outdated and outdated political manipulation.
"It's no different from a replay on stage. The People Power Party Congress has fallen into political chaos where people's livelihoods and vision have disappeared and only lies, incitement, hatred and loathing run rampant," he said.
He also said, "The People's Power Party must immediately apologize for candidate Kim's dangerous political incitement and remove him from his position as a candidate. Otherwise, we will continue the 'insult contest'."
"This would be an admission that we are a party that misunderstands this as a party leadership election," he said. At a joint speech the day before, candidate Kim told President Lee Jae-myung, "The Democratic Party of Korea should be dissolved."
"I propose a thorough discussion on whether the People's Power Party should be dissolved or not," he said, both referring to the dissolution of the Democratic Party.
