Former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo: ”Han Deok-soo, driven by vanity and dreaming of becoming president, ended his life by destroying his country” (South Korea)
On the 19th, former Daegu Mayor Hong Jun-pyo said of former Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, who was teased by the special prosecutor for internal turmoil to summon him for further investigation, "He was driven by vanity and thought he would become president.
"Could you not have foreseen that this would happen as a result of continuing to pursue an empty dream?" Former Mayor Hong wrote to former Prime Minister Han through his Facebook page, "'You are acting as president and running for president.'
"I repeatedly warned him that if he managed the government from a neutral standpoint, he would be able to finish his 50-year career as a bureaucrat beautifully," he wrote.
Han Deok-soo was originally a thoughtful and careful man, but he should have kept his place until the end. He was truly a pitiable man who destroyed the country.
"It's a pity that he ended his life like that, destroying the conservative forces and destroying the party," he wrote. He also continued to strongly criticize former Minister of the Interior and Security Lee Sang Min.
Former Mayor Hong said, "During the Itaewon tragedy, I publicly demanded that the National Police Agency Commissioner General and former Commissioner General Lee resign, but if I had ignored their request and left them alone, I would have been arrested for involvement in the civil unrest.
"Minister Lee is a truly reasonable and decent person, but being around such a terrible person has left him feeling as if he had been struck by lightning," he wrote.
He continued, "However, if you are the chief mourner of a funeral, there are people who perform in their underwear like former President Yoon, so I don't have anything more to say.
"But," he added.
